Show

I am having an exhibit next week, here's the info:

Espresso Art at 944 E University Blvd will open the showing of abstract paintings by Laura M. Johnson, a Tucson resident and graduate of Lake Forest College and New York University, on Saturday, November 22nd at 6pm. The paintings displayed are part of an ongoing series of paintings that are influenced by her study of Asian art. They are painted in the impasto style and include elements from the natural environment. Laura current teaches art at Orange Grove Middle School in Tucson. She has lived and worked in New York City and New Hampshire and creates sculpture, pottery and photography as well as oil paintings. Her work is displayed in the homes of private collectors coast to coast. The show will be displayed until Dec 12, 2008.

New Paintings

Here are some of my new abstract black paintings. The third painting is not completely finished, it needs about three more months of drying time. Once it is dry it will be completed and the colors will become as bright as the first two paintings.

Bert

It's summer in New Hampshire and I'm trying to get a bit of painting done while I'm working on a picture book. Here is another painting of Bert, this time much smaller and less realistic.

Abstract Blacks

Here are some of my abstract pieces, three others have been given as gifts. I have made ten so far.
It was really hard to get the lighting correct to photograph these paintings, it is still off, I will replace these photos if I can get some better shots of them.

Rayne

Bert

I thought this blog would be a nice way to show my friends and family what I have been painting here in Arizona. This is a painting of our dog Bert. I had been painting mostly abstract works but Jeremy, my husband, convinced me to try some portraits. This is my third portrait, I'll get the others up soon. I hope you enjoy checking out my artwork.
