North Conway Mug

This summer while staying at the Mahoney's I decided to make a painting of their home as a thank-you. If I had more time I might have spent a bit more on it. I am not super happy with the perspective but I think it worked out well. I hope they like it!

The real painting looks a lot brighter, for some reason the photo turned out dull.

A friend of mine is a member of the mug club at the Moat Mountain Brewery. He asked me to paint White Horse, Cathedral and Mount Washington, with the Moats in the background. Here is what I did:

3 Day Summer Course

I took a 3-day summer course at UNH a few weeks ago. It was really cool to work with a model, which I had not done in years. The first day of the course was sculpting from the model using an armature. I've never done this before and we only had one day to do it. Here are some photos of my sculpture from start to finish:

The next day was painting. I learned a new technique, which was really difficult for me so I'm going to keep that painting to myself (maybe I'll put it up later). The third day was great, drawing from the model. I really felt like I did well the last day. Here are some drawings, starting with short poses ending with longer ones (the longest here is maybe 30-40 minutes.).

This one is my favorite!

This one I was just playing around because the day had started to get long and I needed a break.

I was really happy with how this long pose came out.

Portrait

After trying to get time for people to sit for me I finally had a model, and I drew horribly. I tried a second time, more from memory, it turned out a little better. It's all about practice:

Landscape

Since I love NH so much and I have lots of free time I decided to paint en plein air. I drove down to Durham with Jeremy and I painted the river near UNH. I haven't tried this in years. I'm not super excited with what I turned out with, but here it is anyhow:

Learning to use acrylics

I'm in NH for the summer and I decided to buy some acrylics. I've never really painted with them before and I find them very difficult. I created a cat portrait for a friend's birthday. Here is the result:
